Spring Season Tips: Tip #1: Now that the Spring weather has officially arrived, it is a perfect time to visit the many parks within Tokyo and surrounding areas-before the rainy season hits at the end of June! One of the top picks right now is: Inokashira Koen: A very easy going, family friendly park located near the heart of Kichijoji. You can enjoy paddle boating on the lake, picnicking, tour the zoo or botanical garden or just peruse the area of Kichijoji which is filled with many wonderful places to shop, eat and people watch! If you enjoy viewing flowers then Meiji Jingue Shrine is where you will want to go in June. There they have an Iris garden that is filled with hundreds of Iris' that are in full bloom during the month. To find out about the above locations and more, pick up a free copy of TOKYO FAMILIES or go to their website: www.tokyofamilies.com Tip #2: If you enjoy the great outdoors, now is the time to explore the many natural attractions around Tokyo and beyond. May and June are the best times to explore, before the broiling heat of summer arrives, and the masses of people start to travel when the Japanese schools get out in mid-July. An excellent resource for outdoor activities is the magazine, OUTDOOR JAPAN, if you cannot find a publication, go to their website: www.outdoorjapan.com where you will find an extensive list of places to go, calendar of events, along with eco-friendly products, all within Japan.
